Abstract
Photonic crystal (PC) belongs to a kind of functional materials with artificial microstructures and nanostructures. Based on periodic or quasi-periodic distribution of dielectric permittivities, PC provides new material systems and physical principles for people to manipulate light. By changing photon generation, transmission, and detection with novel effects, e.g., photonic band gap, self-collimation, etc., PC is proved to be an ideal platform for photonic integrated circuit.
