The Hebrew term  ʾābîb (lit. “young ears of grain” ) denotes a month in spring, probably the seventh month of the Canaanite agricultural calendar. According to Exod 23 : 15 the Festival of Unleavened Bread is to be celebrated in Abib, because it is the month of Israel’s Exodus from Egypt (cf. Deut 16 : 1 where the Passover is mentioned).
